Bloomington Normal Sister City Association

Two high school students from Bloomington-Normal between the ages of 15 and 18 are invited to apply for a 2 week trip to Vladimir, Russia as part of our Sister City exchange program for 2009-2010.   Students will live with a host family and participate in the daily life of the family while they are in Russia.  They will also tour historical sites and have the opportunity to meet with other high school youth and learn about their school system and activities.  Host families are carefully selected by the Sister City association in Vladimir.

Cost:  airfare to Moscow plus $260 .00 for visa and medical insurance.   $200 spending money is suggested.  While in Russia, all transportation, lodging and most meals will be provided by the host family.  A $1,000 stipend is being provided by the Sister City organization to help offset costs.

Trip Preparation:  An orientation by Sister City members who have made numerous trips to Vladimir will be provided.

Contact:  If you have any questions or would like to request an application, call Diane Boeck at 309-3646 or send email to RussianHighSchoolExchange@verizon.net.

Deadline:  Applications and letters of reference must be returned by February 15 and interviews will be held shortly thereafter.   Students will be notified of program acceptance by March 1, 2010.

Bloomington-Normal looks forward to welcoming two students from Vladimir, Russia who will come to our city for the school year beginning August, 2010 as part of this year's exchange.
