Illinois Math Standards

How is math used in the real world?  Problem solving is a key part of everyone's life.  The process as well as the computation can be enhanced with the understanding of mathematics.  Integrating math into all areas can happen seamlessly in most cases because of what is being studied at any particular time in a class.  However we find it very helpful to point out to the students when they are doing math in other subject areas to heighten their awareness that math is everywhere!

The curriculum ideas listed on the Math in Curriculum Areas page include some examples given by the BHS faculty to incorporate into specific subject areas.  (This data was collected by Drew Moore and Tom Thakral in their workshop at the beginning of the 2002-2003 school year.)  The websites listed will continue to be updated to be resources for lesson plans and sources for additional material that you might find helpful.

This website is brought to you by the NCA Math Committee at BHS (M. Anderson, B. Abrams, A. Broughton, K. Byers, M. Cabaj, S. Clapp, D. Engle, J. Hart, E. James, K/ Lowery, S. Mawyer, D. Moore, R. Rose, R. Schmelzer, A. Steffen, T. Thakral, N. Powell, and C. Helmers).
