Make 3 texture rubbings using 3 different squares.

 

Step #3

Place paper on top of a surface with a texture.

Step #4

Hold a wood pencil sideways (mechanical won’t work) and rub the pencil with even pressure over the area with a textured surface (within the square on your paper).

Draw your own textures

Consider the texture that you found for rubbings. Try re-draw these textures or create some of your own. Draw 10 textures.

Step #1

After you outline your hand choose 5-10 textures to use from your texture samples.

Step #2

Trim the white edges off of the cut out.

Step #3

Glue the cut out onto the blank sheet of paper.

Step #4

Use pencil to repeat the textures and line that you see on the cut out and try to make it disappear into your drawing. (You may not draw on the cut out).

DRAW OVER PENCIL WITH PEN - ERASE PENCIL AFTER INK DRIES (

Some pencil is ok for gray areas.

Final drawing should be about 50% black 50% white!

Objective:

Learn to mix and apply paint by painting a color wheel.

 

Supplies:

Color wheel hand out, paint, brush, water cup, pallet, and paper towels.

 

Vocabulary:

Texture- The feel and appearance of a surface, especially how rough or smooth it is.

 

Pen and Ink- A long thin instrument used for writing or drawing with ink. Early examples were made from sharpened quill feathers, but modern pens usually consist of a metal or plastic shaft with a nib, point, or revolving ball at one end.

 

Quill- A large stiff feather from a bird's wing or tail, or the hollow shaft of such a feather. An old-fashioned pen made from the shaft of a feather.

 

Ink Well- A colored liquid or paste used for writing, printing, or drawing usually kept in a plastic or glass jar.

 

Composition- The way in which the parts of something are arranged, especially the parts of a visual image; the artist’s masterly composition of a group of subject matter.

 

Line Quality- A long narrow mark or stroke made on or in a surface. Some lines are thick, thin, bumpy, ect…

Balance- A state in which various parts form a satisfying and harmonious whole and nothing is out of proportion or unduly emphasized at the expense of the rest.

 

Organization- The coordinating of separate components into a unit or structure.

 

Weight- The importance of a certain part of an image in relation to the composition as a whole.

Use pencil or pen to draw these textures, be creative, you can create a texture many different ways.

Step #2

You can make a texture using objects and repeating them or you can think about the surface of something that has a texture that you remember and try to re-create it.

Step #3

If you use a pencil, go over your textures with pen so that you can figure out how to draw them on your textured hand.

Get a blank piece of paper and fold it into 12 equal parts.

Step #2

Make 3 texture rubbings (use 3 different squares).

Draw 9 different textures that you create (use a different square for each).

Step #4

Get a blank piece of paper and outline your hand.

Create a texture and line design.
